This blogger condemns the recent enactment of Republic Act 10175, otherwise known as the “Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012” sponsored by Sen. Edgardo Angara and son Rep. Sonny Angara as this “poses serious threats to Internet freedom, the right to privacy and other essential civil liberties including the freedom of speech, expression, and the press.”
To date, some eight petitions have been filed before the Supreme Court to declare as unconstitutional the law or its provisions that out rightly violates the constitutional provision prohibiting laws that abridge civil & political freedoms.
This blogger further share with the rest of the Online community or the so-called netizens in condemning the self-serving moves of Sen. Vicente Sotto, the man behind the libel clause in this law and the President, Noynoy Aquino no less for blindly if not intentionally approving this law.
Let’s all sign the petition HERE and lets make our profile picture black in protest.
